The victory stand to be used for the national games will have a video wall that will display visuals of importance from the State from which the medal winners hail.

The medal ceremonies of the 35th National Games, to be hosted by the State between January 31 and February 14 next year, will witness a departure from the past.

Whereas, previously, the winners of the first three places were ushered in, presented with the medals, and then greeted by the band in attendance, the victory stand to be used for the games will have a video wall that will display visuals of importance from the State from which the medal winners hail.

Besides, the games’ theme song will also be played before and after the ceremony.

In the event of a national record being broken, the organisers are also hopeful that the national anthem can be played as a tribute to such an achievement, subject to the approval of the authorities concerned, the Indian Olympic Association, and the Games Technical Conduct Committee.

The innovation, conceptualised and developed by the Cultural and Medal Presentation Committee constituted for the games, was presented to the media by Sports Minister Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan in the presence of top officials of the National Games Organising Committee here on Tuesday.

The new digital victory stand will be used only for presenting medals for winners of the various individual events. The stand is also to be set up in such a way that it can be seen from any part of the stadium concerned, the Minister said.
