MP says BJP experiment to be stillborn

October 31, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:38 am IST - ALAPPUZHA:

BJP’s efforts to expand its base in Kerala, with the help of new allies, will be a stillborn experiment, K.C. Venugopal, MP, has said.

Addressing a Meet the Press programme here on Friday, he said the ‘Operation Kerala’ move, initiated by the Central leadership of the BJP, was bound to fail in the contemporary political situation.

People’s expectations were belied by the BJP government. Communal polarisation was happening because of the wrong policies of the Modi government.

The Prime Minister might have clarified that intolerance was not the government policy, but no concrete actions were being made against the wrongdoers.

Ministers were adding fuel to fire in sensitive matters. Union Minister V.K. Singh’s utterances on the death of two children were objectionable, but no action had been initiated against him.

Protest

Congress would launch strong protest against him in Parliament, he said.

Mr. Venugopal said the UDF would win the district panchayat, all municipalities, and majority of grama panchayats in the local body elections in the district.

Alappuzha bypass project was included in the ‘mega projects’, a step which would ensure enough funds, he said.

Referring to the Vigilance Court order in the bar licence case, Mr. Venugopal said there were ample instances in which higher courts had set aside lower court’s orders.
