M.K.K. Nayar award for KMML

The State government-owned Kerala Minerals and Metals Ltd has won the FACT M.K.K. Nayar Memorial Productivity Awards for 2009-2010 in the large-scale industry category.

Announcing the FACT M.K.K. Nayar Memorial Productivity Awards for 2009-2010, under the auspices of the Kerala State Productivity Council here on Monday, Industries Minister P.K. Kunhalikutty said HLL Lifecare Ltd, Peroorkada, had bagged the best productivity performance award in the medium-large industry category, while the Plantation Corporation of Kerala Ltd. was chosen the best in medium-scale industries.

Among small-scale units, Crust 'N Crumb Food Ingredients (P) Ltd, Muvattupuzha, was selected for the best productivity performance award, while the Kerala Forest Development Corporation and Popular Vehicles and Services, Ernakulam were joint winners in the service organisations category.

The second-best productivity performance awards in these categories are: MRF Ltd. Kottayam (Large-scale industry) SEPR Refractories, Palakkad (Medium-large Industry), Prima Plastics, Muvattupuzha, (Medium-Scale industry), Nambiattukudy Agro Mills, Ernakulam, and Ponnu Food Products, Kollam (Small-scale industry), Kerala Financial Corporation, Thiruvananthapuram, and HESEL Engineering Pvt. Ltd., Ernakulam (Service organisations).

The FACT M.K.K. Nair Memorial Productivity Awards is sponsored Fertilizers and Chemicals Travancore Ltd, to perpetuate the memory of M.K.K. Nayar who made significant contributions to the industrialisation and productivity movement in the State. The awards are given away annually under the auspices of Kerala State Productivity Council. The main objective of the award, which was instituted in 1988, is to encourage industrial units to increase their productivity and create a healthy competition among organisations for achieving higher productivity. KSPC vice-chairman K V Ramachandran, who was present along with the Minister, who is also the chairman of the council, said the basis for awards included productivity of men, machine, material and money, record of industrial relations and safety, HRD activities, productivity and quality improvement, energy conservation, technological advancement, environment protection, welfare measures, and social responsibility.

The awards will be presented at a function at Kalamassery on September 24, the Minister said.
