The weather office on Monday said the rainfall activity over Kerala was likely to increase in intensity over the next 48 hours in association with a fresh surge of monsoon westerlies.

A cyclonic circulation over northwest Bay of Bengal is likely to become more marked by Tuesday, bringing heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places in the State. Fishermen are advised not to venture out to sea.

Widespread rainfall has been forecast for Kerala up to August 17. Munnar recorded the highest rainfall of 11.38 cm on Monday.
