Meet on secularism

: The District Congress Committee (DCC) will hold a convention here on Friday to highlight the need to safeguard the nation’s secular tenets as part of commemorating Mahatma Gandhi’s 67th death anniversary.

The convention will be held at 4 p.m. on the DCC office premises here. Lyricist-musician Kaithapuram Damodharan Namboothiri would administer a pledge on the need to isolate fundamentalist forces, DCC president C.K. Sreedharan told a press conference here.

An exhibition of portraits of the Mahatma is under way at the DCC office as part of observing the “Martyrdom” of the Father ofthe Nation.
