Meet on advances in medicine, dentistry

: A three-day conference on ‘Recent advances in medicine and dentistry' is under way at the Kannur Medical College at Anjarakkandy here in collaboration with the University of Gotherburg, Sweden.

A press release issued by the organisers here on Saturday said the papers, presented at the conference that began on January 9, included recent developments in cosmetology, impact of smoking on general health, recent advances in Alzheimer research, incidence of low backache in school going adolescents, control of infection in surgical patients, recent developments in management of acute coronary syndrome, and stress management.

Goran Kjeller, Bengt Hausses, Mats Wallstrom, Peter Lingstrom, Ibolya Kjeller and Daniel Giglio from the University of Gothenburg were the main speakers at the conference.

Doctors and medical experts Sarath Ashokan, Govindan Unni, S.M. Shaafi, Sandhya B. Ravindran, Deepak Kishore Kaltari, P.B. Sajeev Kumar, Aneesh Ashok, M. Prashanth also presented papers, the release said.

The meet will conclude on Sunday.
