The Department of English at Unity Women’s College, Manjeri, held an author-based quiz for college students across the State on Wednesday.

The fifth edition of the quiz, titled Author Quest, focussed on one author chosen by the contestants. The colleges were assigned authors in advance and were given time to study them.

“It was an out-of-the-box quizzing aimed at meeting the renewed modes of learning and interaction promoted by the revised curriculum at graduate and postgraduate level,” said P.K. Babu, head of the Department of English.

The quiz was held in 13 rounds with two initial written rounds. The teams which qualified the written rounds competed in the final oral rounds built on aspects such as themes, honours, quotes, years, biography, characters, visuals, adaptations, titles, openings and conclusions.

As many as 26 colleges competed in the event. Malabar Christian College, Kozhikode, won the first prize and Zamorin’s Guruvayoorappan College, Kozhikode, got the second prize. The host college won the third prize.
