Man’s body found in abandoned quarry

The Karukachal police have launched a probe into the case in connection with the recovery of a man’s body from an abandoned quarry near Kangazha.

The body, identified as that of Mukesh, 31, a native of Kainadi in Alappuzha, was found tied to a two-wheeler.

The body was spotted floating in water around 10 a.m. on Saturday and on an alert, the police and the Fire and Rescue Services reached the spot.

Attempts to recover it revealed that the hip of the body was tied firmly to the crash guard of a two-wheeler with a thin nylon rope. Preliminary investigations suggested that the body might have floated onto the surface upon loosening of the rope.

Missing since Friday

The police are awaiting a post-mortem examination report to ascertain the factors leading to the death.

The police said Mukesh had gone missing from his home at Kainadi since December 28 and on a complaint by his relatives, the Kainadi police lodged a man-missing case.
