Mani has no moral right to present budget: Pinarayi

January 23, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:47 am IST - THRISSUR:

CPI(M) State secretary Pinarayi Vijayan on Thursday said Finance Minister K.M. Mani had no moral right to present the State Budget.

Mr. Vijayan was addressing the party district conference at Irinjalakuda, near here.

“Does Mr. Mani, who is facing corruption charges, deserve to be in office? Kerala says in one voice that he does not. So, he should resign. By continuing in office, he is insulting democracy. Even UDF leader R. Balakrishna Pillai had levelled allegations against Mr. Mani,” he said.

He said that the investigation into the bar scam should not be restricted to Mr. Mani.  “Details of the involvement of the entire UDF in the scam should be brought out.”

The CPI(M) State secretary said that Chief Minister Oommen Chandy was the leader of the corrupt. He continues in office despite the references made by lower courts and Supreme Court to his involvement in various corruption cases,” added Mr. Vijayan.
