A special investigation team appointed by Superintendent of Police A. Sreenivas arrested a worker from Ajmir Gate in Uttar Pradesh in connection with the death of an elderly couple at Ranni-Pazhavangady, near here, a month ago.
According to Mr. Sreenivas, the couple, George, 73, and his wife, Kunjoonjamma, 70, of Choozhukunnil house, were found dead inside their bedroom with cut wounds on their neck on December 16, 2014.
Though the case was closed as suicide, the police reopened it following complaints from relatives of the deceased. A team headed by Thiruvalla Dy.SP Thampi S. Durgadutt inquired the case. The police team arrested Fakruddin, 51, from Ajmir Gate. Fakruddin, who was working as a mason at Ranni, had stayed in the out-house of the deceased couple for nearly six months.
He was produced before the Judicial First Class Magistrate Court at Ranni on Wednesday and was remanded in custody.
