The LDF State committee here on Thursday decided to launch two jathas as part of its campaign for the coming Lok Sabha elections.

LDF convener A. Vijayaraghavan told reporters that the jathas would be launched from Thiruvananthapuram and Kasaragod in the second week of February and converge in Thrissur on March 2.

The jathas, highlighting the ‘misrule’ of the National Democratic Alliance government at the Centre, would focus on the campaign ‘oust Modi’.

Prominent leaders of the CPI(M) and the CPI would lead the jathas and all constituents of the front would play an active role.

Public meetings

The jathas from two sides would tour all Assembly segments where public meetings would be held.

Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, Ministers and other leaders would address the campaign meetings.

District committees of the LDF would meet to make preparations for the jathas.

The campaign would also lay thrust on unemployment, crisis in the farm sector and the economic policies that have had a serious bearing on the economy, he said. The Sabarimala issue too would come up in the course of the campaign, especially the way how the Sangh Parivar attempted to create problems during the festival season, he said.
