This time, without the RSP, the LDF won 35 out of the 55 divisions. One division (Thekkumbhagam) was won by an LDF Independent candidate. The UDF won 16 seats. Two went to the BJP and one to the Socialist Democratic Party of India. The break up for the LDF is CPI(M) - 24; CPI -11 and LDF (Ind)-1. The UDF break-up is Congress - 11; RSP - 4 and JSS - 1.
