Former KPCC president V.M. Sudheeran has said that the Left Democratic Front (LDF) government led by Pinarayi Vijayan is celebrating its total failure and lack of direction in administration.

In a statement here on Friday, Mr. Sudheeran listed out the failures and lapses of the LDF government, including the deteriorating law and order situation. The LDF government had failed in its primary duty of ensure peaceful life to the people of the State, but the last two years had witnessed political murders one after the other with the CPI(M) being the common factor in them.

The State also witnessed custodial tortures and deaths, atrocities against women and children, with the police making a mark for its lapses. The increasing number of cases connected to police atrocities was alarming, with the department acquiring a dubious reputation. Kerala had become a paradise of mafia gangs, criminals, and hitmen. The people cannot expect justice from a police force that had been politicised, he said.

The LDF government had degenerated to the status of protector of the corrupt, law breakers and affluent in society. He listed the government’s tacit support for the handing over of the Halcyon Castle to a private hotel group, regularisation of violations in building rules, undermining of the Kerala Paddy and Wetland Conservation Act, relaxation in Abkari laws and sops for quarry owners as some of the “success stories” of the LDF government.

“The LDF government had become a replica of the Modi government for its corporate appeasement policies,” he said.
