LDF candidate files nomination papers

Left Democratic Front (LDF) candidate Saji Cherian on Wednesday filed his nomination papers for the May 28 Chengannur Assembly bypoll.

Mr. Cherian submitted his nomination papers before RDO and returning officer M.V. Suresh Kumar in the morning.

Speaking to reporters, Mr. Cherian exuded confidence of victory in the bypoll. “The people want the continuation of the good work carried out by K.K. Ramachandran Nair. Supporters of the Kerala Congress (M) and BDJS will vote for the LDF,” Mr. Cherian said.

As many as 14 candidates have submitted their nomination papers for the bypoll so far.

United Democratic Front (UDF) candidate D. Vijayakumar and National Democratic Alliance (NDA) candidate P.S. Sreedharan Pillai filed their nomination papers on Monday.

Last date of filing nomination is May 10 and scrutiny of nomination will be held on May 11.

Last date for withdrawal of candidature is May 14.
