Title deeds distribution mela held

The United Democratic Front (UDF) government has succeeded in implementing its slogan ‘development of the State and care for the common man,’ Deputy Chairman of the Rajya Sabha P.J. Kurien has said.

Prof. Kurien was inaugurating the Pattaya Mela held on the collectorate premises here on Wednesday.

He said the government could understand the pain of the people who had been pleading for title deeds for the land occupied by them for years.

Zero-landless

Prof. Kurien also lauded the initiative taken by Revenue Minister Adoor Prakash for making three districts zero-landless.

Presiding over the function, Mr. Prakash said the government had taken effective steps to provide title deeds to all eligible persons in a time-bound manner.

With the distribution of 1,481 title deeds in Pathanamthitta as on Wednesday, the total number of title deeds distributed across the State had touched 1,42,262, he said.

Anto Antony, MP; K. Sivadasan Nair, Raju Abraham, Mathew T. Thomas, MLAs; district panchayat president Haridas Edathitta and District Collector S. Harikishore spoke.
