The Kudumbashree Mission is all set to make its presence felt in construction field.

After inaugurating the construction unit of the mission and its training here on Saturday, Minister A.C. Moideen said the mission could play a key role in rebuilding of the post-flood State. Kudumbashree had been active in reviving the farming sector after the deluge. The mission was searching for new fields to create more job opportunities. The initiation to the construction field was part of it.

“There are more than 25 lakh people working in the construction sector. Most of them are from other States. The mission is trying to make use of the job opportunities in the field,” the Minister noted.

“Local administrative bodies are making 1,75,000 houses as part of Life Mission. This will increase the number of job opportunities in construction field. The Kudumbashree Mission will train the women as skilled workers,” the Minister added.

Those who lost household equipment in the floods would get a loan of ₹1 lakh through Ayalkkoottam (Neighbourhood group). The Kudumbashree should ensure that the money was reaching eligible flood victims, the Minister noted. The Kudumbashree Mission would get a loan of ₹3,000 crore for this purpose. Ayalkkootams will be part of the cleaning drive under Haritha Keralam till October 2.
