The Indian National Trade Union Congress-affiliated Transport Democratic Front (TDF) has postponed its strike plan in the Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) from Wednesday midnight.

The decision to postpone the strike follows an assurance given by Minister for Transport Thomas Chandy during talks with leaders of the union at the Secretariat on Wednesday, TDF president Thampanoor Ravi said.

Mr. Ravi said the Minister had given an assurance that the salary and wages would be paid on the first of every month and that steps would be taken to clear the pension arrears soon. The TDF president said Mr. Chandy had said the sacking of empanelled staff of the transport utility would be dropped.

On the single duty system introduced for the bus crew, the TDF president said the Minister had said the issue would be discussed at the ministerial level in July first week and steps will be taken to rectify the anomalies.
