KILA guide to local body members

October 29, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 08:57 am IST - KOCHI:

The Kerala Institute of Local Administration (KILA) will present a box of six booklets to the more than 22,000 elected representatives in local bodies as they assume office to guide them in implementation of the Panchayat Raj programmes.

Assistant professor of planning and management at the Institute J.B. Rajan said that KILA had been involved in training and providing guidance to the local body members in the past too. A set of five booklets were issued to them in 2005. These were compressed into a single book in 2010. However, the new elected members will get six booklets on administration of the local government bodies. The first booklet deals with public administration; the second with good governance; the third with quality management, dealing with quality assurance in the service mechanism; the fourth deals with grama sabhas and the proposed sevagrams, and the sixth booklet is on institutions and services.
