The Kannur International Airport has accomplished the distinction of having one million passengers in nine months.

Stating this in a press release here on Tuesday, Kannur International Airport Ltd. (KIAL) said that Durga Thotten, a Class IX student from Singapore, who landed here on Tuesday along with her parents and brother, was the millionth passenger of the airport.

When the family from Singapore landed at the airport in an IndiGo flight from Thiruvananthapuram at 4.10 p.m., KIAL authorities welcomed the millionth passenger by handing over to her a memento. KIA senior operations manager Rajesh Poduwal presented the memento. IndiGo officials presented her the airline company’s gift. The airport officials said that the airport’s achievement of the distinction was mainly due to the increased number of domestic passengers.
