Malappuram native is REIA secretary general

Nabeel Mancheri has more than 10 years of experience in the rare earths sector.

Nabeel Mancheri, Malayali economist and strategist, has been appointed secretary general of the newly formed Rare Earth Industry Association (REIA), a European Commission-supported organisation in Brussels.

Mr. Mancheri, a native of Kalikavu in Malappuram district, earlier worked as senior researcher and project manager at Leuven University, Belgium.

A PhD holder from Jawaharlal Nehru University, Mr. Mancheri has held academic positions in universities in India, Japan, and the Netherlands and has been a visiting fellow in universities in China, the U.S., and Australia.

He was named one of the top emerging geo economists in the world by Johns Hopkins University, U.S.

On assuming office, Mr. Mancheri who has more than 10 years of experience in the rare earths sector said the priorities of the REIA would be to ensure market transparency and sustainability of rare earths through the global association of producers and consumers.
