Kerala to receive additional kerosene

Food and Civil Supplies Minister G.R. Anil has said the State will receive an additional kerosene allocation of 20,000 kilo litres from the Central government.

The decision was taken at a meeting of senior officials convened by Union Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Gas Rameswar Teli to discuss the State’s demand for an increase in kerosene allocation in New Delhi on Thursday.

During a discussion with Mr. Anil in the national capital, Mr. Teli stressed the Centre’s policy to gradually phase out the use of kerosene in the country. He also cited the ban imposed on kerosene use in Delhi and Haryana.

Mr. Teli urged the State governments to discourage its use in view of the environmental pollution it resulted in as well as production cost.
