The fourth annual session of the Kerala History Congress will be organised on the Karyavattam campus of Kerala University from December 20 to 22.
Higher Education Minister K.T. Jaleel will inaugurate the annual session at 11 a.m. on Thursday.
An interactive session with Rajmohan Gandhi, biographer and research professor at the Centre for South Asian and Middle Eastern Studies, University of Illinois, will be held as a curtain-raiser to the main event at 7 p.m. on Wednesday.
Prof. Gandhi is the grandson of Mahatma Gandhi and C. Rajagopalachari, the last Governor General of India.
Lecture
Noted historian Sugata Bose, grandnephew of Subhash Chandra Bose and professor of Oceanic History and Affairs, Harvard University, will deliver the Vakkom Abdul Khader memorial lecture on ‘1943: A year of heroism and martyrdom’ at 10 a.m. on December 21.
Later, Sucheta Mahajan, chairperson, Centre for Historical Studies, Jawaharlal Nehru University, will deliver the Annie Mascarene memorial lecture at 5 p.m.
Shashi Tharoor, MP, will deliver a lecture on ‘Indian Politics at Crossroads’ at 10 a.m. on December 22. Symposiums featuring prominent historians and social scientists would be held during the Kerala History Congress, organising secretary N. Gopakumaran Nair said.
