Kerala CM visits Wayanad, announces ex-gratia to victims

Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has said that fair compensation would be provided to the victims of the rain-related calamities in the District in a war foot.

Speaking after attending a review meeting at the Collectorate here on Saturday, Mr. Vijayan said that a sum of ₹4 lakh each would be provided to kin of the deceased and to families who had lost their houses in the rains.

Those families who had lost both houses and land due to landslides would provided ₹10 lakh each — ₹6 lakh for purchasing land and ₹4 lakh for constructing house, Mr. Vijayan said. Valuable documents lost in the flood would be renewed at free of cost, he added.

The Chief Minister also promised that more medical teams would be sent to the district.

Mr. Vijayan also visited one of the largest relief camp functioning at Munderi here. Leader of Opposition Ramesh Chennithala, legislators and senior officials of various Departments accompanied the Chief Minister.
