Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Tuesday lashed out at Sangh Parivar outfits for creating unrest in Sabarimala in the name of opposing entry of women and has alleged that the outfits has hatched a conspiracy to keep the hill shrine under them to achieve the political gains of the BJP.

“The plan of the Sangh Parivar outfits is to upset the Government’s effort to ensure a hassle-free darshan to the Ayyappa pilgrims. They are creating trouble and indulging in false campaign to keep Sabarimala under them”, the Chief Minister told a press conference here on Tuesday.

Pointing out that many of those arrested in the hill shrine on Sunday night were RSS, ABVP and Hindu Aikya Vedi functionaries who came through forest and had criminal cases in various police stations against them, Mr. Vijayan said ‘they were kar sevaks sent to create trouble as part of the conspiracy to take over Sabarimala and execute the plans of the Sangh Parivar oufits.”

“Sannidhanam is considered very sacred but Sangh Parivar outfits were creating trouble and their leaders are breaking traditions and rituals. Police have been dealing the situation very peacefully. Despite facing physical violence, they have maintained restraint,” Mr. Vijayan said. The Chief Minister claimed no pilgrim or mediaperson had complained of any inconvenience after the temple opened for the Mandala-Makaravilakku festival season on Friday.

Mr. Vijayan said the restrictions imposed by the police is to keep away the protestors and to ensure a hassle-free darshan to the pilgrims coming from all over. The BJP leaders who come for pilgrimage will be provided with all assistance. “But if their intention is different, the government will act,’ he said on the move by the BJP to sent national leaders in the coming days to the hill shrine.

To a query, Mr. Vijayan said the government had executed Rs. 25 crore works in Nilackal and Pampa after the devastating floods in August and repaired 247 approach road corridors to Pampa .

The Chief Minister reiterated that the government has no other way before it than to execute the Supreme Court order. “The government is ready to give protection to women coming forward to visit the hill shrine from Nilackal onwards’’, he said, pointing out that it is impractical to ensure security to the women from their doorstep.
