KC(M) questions integrity of official

October 31, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:38 am IST - KOTTAYAM:

The Kerala Congress (M), which has found itself in a difficult situation following the Vigilance and Special Court judgment in the bar bribery case, has welcomed further investigation in the case.

However, the party has expressed doubt about the integrity of investigating officer R. Sukesan, Superintendent of Police.

In a written statement here on Thursday, party general secretary Joseph M. Puthussery alleged that the investigating officer was responsible for the leakage of the depositions of various witnesses, but never gave away the deposition by K.M. Mani.

He said the bar owners’ association president had submitted complaints against the investigating officer.

Moreover, in spite of a High Court directive, no case had been filed against bar owner Biju Ramesh, he alleged.

Meanwhile, the Kerala Congress (Secular), owning allegiance to former Government Chief Whip P.C. George, demanded immediate resignation of Mr. Mani in the light of the judgment.

“With the decision of Vigilance Director Vinson M. Paul to quit, it has been proved beyond doubt that Chief Minister Oommen Chandy and Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala are the real culprits,” said Maleth Prathapa Chandran, KC( S) general secretary.

Uzhavoor Vijayan, State president, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), called for Mr. Mani’s resignation and sought the intervention of the Governor in this regard.

Bar owners’ association president has submitted complaints against the investigating officer, party says.
