Kerala Congress (M) chairman K.M. Mani and working chairman P.J. Joseph have been elected leader and deputy leader respectively of the Legislature party of Kerala Congress (M). The election was held at the meeting of the Legislature party here on Saturday evening.
In addition to chairman Mr. Mani , working chairman P.J. Joseph and Member of Parliament Jose K. Mani, all those who have been elected to the 13th Kerala Legislative Assembly, except Roshy Augustine (Idukki segment), were present. Mr. Augustine could not participate as he was on a pilgrimage. The meeting continued for more than three hours.
Earlier, Mr. Mani told mediapersons who met him that he hoped the UDF leadership would take all decisions in the right spirit of coalition politics. The people's mandate was for carrying out good governance in the right spirit of coalition politics, he said and
added that there would not be any distinction between the big or small parties in a coalition, but all would be as equals.
He did not elaborate on the discussions between himself and IUML leader P.K. Kunhalikkutty in Kochi on Saturday morning, but said all decisions regarding the constitution of the Cabinet would be taken by the UDF.
