Two police personnel injured in scuffle

Two police officers were injured in a scuffle involving Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers at Kathirur here on Sunday. The incident occurred when a police team led by Koothuparamba Circle Inspector Premsadan went to the residence of a BJP worker E. Sunil Kumar

to arrest him in connection with an attack on a Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPI-M] worker. Kathirur sub-inspector V.S. Praveen and additional sub-inspector T. Joy suffered minor injuries. The police said BJP workers and the relatives of the accused tried to prevent the police from entering the latter’s residence at Daimonmukku at Kathirur at 2 p.m. The police officers received treatment at the local public health centre. The police arrested Sunil Kumar and two BJP workers in connection with the scuffle. — Special Correspondent
