JSS faction to hold special convention

With Janadhipathya Samrakshana Samithi (JSS) leader K.R. Gouri mulling over merging with the CPI(M), a faction of the party led by A.N. Rajan Babu is making attempts at cementing its position within the United Democratic Front (UDF).

The faction has decided to organise a special convention here on May 16 and 17. Speaking to mediapersons, party general secretary A.N. Rajan Babu and president K.K. Shaju said the programme was being conducted as part of reconstituting the JSS and modifying the party’s constitution.

Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala would inaugurate the convention at the Town Square on May 16. Prominent UDF leaders, including M.P. Veerendrakumar, Johnny Nellore and Shibu Baby John were expected to participate in the function. Around 150 members would participate in the delegates’ session the next day, they said.

Mr. Babu accused Ms. Gouri of betraying the trust of the members of the party by supporting the proposal of joining the CPI(M). “She must also apologise to the family of the party’s four martyrs who were killed in clashes with the CPI(M) during the formation of the JSS. A favourable stance towards the CPI(M) was adopted in order to gain entry into high positions within the party,” he alleged

They demanded that Ms. Gouri cede the ownership of the party’s offices in Thiruvananthapuram and in Alappuzha.
