Joseph must go, says LDF

September 18, 2011 11:34 am | Updated August 03, 2016 11:35 pm IST - THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:

The Opposition Left Democratic Front (LDF) has sought Water Resources Minister P.J. Joseph's resignation in the light of the court summons issued to him in connection with the SMS controversy.

Front convener Vaikom Viswan told a press conference here on Saturday that Mr. Joseph had lost the right to remain in office following the court summons. He should either step down or the Chief Minister should drop him from the Cabinet.

Mr. Viswan said Mr. Joseph had stepped down as Minister in the LDF Cabinet when he faced allegations of sexual harassment while on a journey by flight.

He could return to the job only after the case was disposed of.
