: Mohammed Yousuf Tarigami, senior Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPI-M] leader from Jammu & Kashmir, has called for initiating serious confidence-building measures among people to resolve the vexed separatist issues faced by the State.
“It is wrong to assume that a lasting solution in Jammu & Kashmir could be found by perpetual deployment of the armed forces. The CPI(M) has been professing the need to initiate a series of confidence-building measures among the aggrieved sections to clear their apprehension, Mr. Tarigami, the four-time MLA from Kulgam said.
Mr. Tarigami, who is also CPI(M) State secretary, was addressing a seminar on ‘Kashmir and emerging challenges,’ organised by the party’s district unit here on Tuesday. Coming down heavily on the NDA government, he said the Narendra Modi government during its one-year tenure was found to be increasingly serving the interest of corporate groups ignoring the aspirations of the marginalised sections.
P. Karunakaran, MP, presided. Senior party leaders from the district attended.
