Jacob Thomas asks govt. to reinstate him

Director General of Police Jacob Thomas on Tuesday wrote to the State government to urgently heed to the order of the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) to reinstate him in service.

The CAT had ordered that Mr. Thomas, the senior-most ranking officer in the State, be given a post commensurate with his rank in the law enforcement or other allied departments.

Sources close to Mr. Thomas said he had sent the request via mail to the Chief Secretary and the Principal Secretary, General Administration Department.

Govt. stance

Meanwhile, government officials said the State had sought a copy of the order and would challenge the CAT’s finding in the Kerala High Court.

The government had slapped a Vigilance case on Mr. Thomas in connection with the purchase of costly dredging equipment when he was Director, Ports.
