A mahal committee near Perinthalmanna has run into a controversy after it expelled a Muslim family from its membership.
The reason given by the Madarul Islam Mahal of Kondiparamba was that one of the family members married a Christian from Nilambur.
Mr. Kunnummal Yusuf and his family were expelled from the mahal after Yusuf’s daughter Jaseela married Tiso Tom. Both reportedly have decided to follow their respective faiths. Ms. Jaseela has been working abroad. Yusuf is planning to legally take on the committee.
