T.J. Joseph, former college teacher whose right palm had been chopped off by the accused, said on Friday that he had already acquitted the accused in the court of his conscience and therefore whatever sentence being awarded to them by the court did not make him happy in any way.
He said that he had already pardoned those who had physically assaulted him. He always hoped for the best for all the accused.
Meanwhile, counsel for the National Investigation Agency (NIA) said that the court was convinced about the charges levelled against the accused. However, there was inadequacy of sentence.
NIA to appeal
The NIA would file appeal for enhancing the sentence and acquittal of the 18 accused
Counsel for the accused said that appeals would be filed against the verdict awarding jail terms of varying years to the 13 accused.
‘No remorse’
The NIA counsel had earlier argued that the accused did not show any remorse over the incidence for which they were arrested and put on trial.
He pleaded for awarding maximum punishments to the accused who were found guilty of various offences.
