Honour for Kalamandalam Kuttan, Leelamma

Kalamandalam Kuttan (Kathakali Vesham) and Kalamandalam Leelamma (Mohiniyattam - posthumous) have been selected for Kerala Kalamandalam fellowships for 2017.

The fellowship carries a purse of ₹50,000, memento, and certificate. Vasanthi Menon has been selected for the M.K.K. Nair award.

Winners of the other awards are P. Vasudevan (Kathakali Vesham); Kalamandalam Rajendran (Kathakali music); Kalamandalam Krishnadas (Chenda); Kalamandalam Ramankutty (Maddalam); Chandrankutty Tharakan (Chamayam); Margi Sajeev Narayanachakyar (Koodiyattam, male); Neena Prasad (Mohiniyattam); K.P. Nanthipulam (Thullal); Sukumari Narendramenon (dance music); Kadavallur Gopalakrishnan (Panchavadya Maddalam –A.S.N. Nambeeshan award); Kalamandalam Gopi (art book – Nalacharithaprabhavam); and Rachitha Ravi (Mohiniyattam – young talent award). The awards carry ₹30,000, a memento, and certificate.

Winners of various endowments are S. Sreenivasan (Mukundaraja Smruthy Puraskaram); Kalamandalam Leelamani (Kalaratnam); Kalamandalam M.P.S. Namboodiri (Killimangalam Vasudevan Namboodiripad endowment); Ammannur Rajaneesh Chakyar (Painkulam Ramachakyar memorial award); Kalamandalam B.C. Narayanan (Vadakkan Kannan Nayarashan memorial award); Kalamandalam Geethanandan (K.S. Divakaran Nair memorial Sougandikam award – posthumous); Sreenath (Bhagavathar Kunjunni Thampuran endowment); and Kalamandalam Neeraj (Dr. V.S. Sharma endowment).

The awards will be presented during the Vallathole Jayanti celebrations on November 8 and 9, Vice Chancellor T.K. Narayanan said here on Tuesday.
