Heavy traffic in Tripunithura during peak hours cause for concern

It takes half-an-hour to 45 minutes to cover Thiruvankulam Junction-Karingachira stretch in Tripunithura because of heavy traffic jam during peak hours. Vehicles move at a snail’s pace and hence enormous quantity of fuel is wasted, adding to the environmental pollution. Ambulances carrying critical patients to hospitals also get stranded in the traffic block that engulfs both sides of the road.

Sometimes the line of vehicles extends up to Tripunithura East Fort gate too.

While the Public Works Department (PWD) must urgently widen the narrow road, the severe traffic congestion could temporarily be eased to a certain extent if a signal system is installed at Thiruvankulam Junction and Karingachira Junction by the police or Motor Vehicles Department.

Residents of Eroor in Tripunithura have been facing acute water shortage for quite some time now and the authorities concerned have not taken any steps to ensure water supply on a regular basis.

To bring the issue to the notice of the authorities, the Manakkal Residents’ Association has decided to launch various protest programmes in the area.

As part of their commitment towards betterment of infrastructure, the association took up the initiative of filling potholes with concrete mixture on the Manjelipadam Road and Kulangattuchira Road, with the support of the councillor.

These roads are used by many motorists to reach Vyttila Mobility Hub and also by students of a CBSE school. The potholes were posing serious problems to motorists, especially those riding two-wheelers.

During the anniversary meeting held recently, a directory of members of the association was released. Excise Minister K. Babu inaugurated the meeting.
