HC moved against relaxation of bail terms

Nursing-scam accused allowed to visit the Gulf

The Directorate of Enforcement filed a petition in the Kerala High Court on Monday against an Ernakulam CBI Special Court order relaxing the bail condition of Uthup Varghese, an accused in the nursing recruitment scam, which allowed him to visit the Gulf countries.

The petition sought to quash the CBI special court order. The Directorate of Enforcement had registered a case against Uthup Varghese under section 4 of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act.

The special court while granting him bail set the condition that he should not leave Ernakulam without permission from the court. However, the court in November suspended the condition for 45 days, allowing Varghese to leave the country. He left the country on November 26 after relaxation of the bail.
