The city police on Monday arrested one more person in connection with the online assault on Hanan Hamid, a third-year undergraduate student against whom an alleged hate campaign was launched on social media after a news item appeared in a section of the press about her selling fish in Thammanam after college hours.

The arrested was identified as Siyad, a native of Kollam. The police had earlier collected a screen shot of the abusive comments made by him on Hanan.

The other day, police had arrested a Guruvayur native, K. Viswanathan, in connection with the online hate campaign against the woman. Besides, they had also interrogated one Noorudheen Sheikh who had posted a video against the woman on his Facebook page.

Though several persons, who had been part of the hate campaign against Hanan, later deleted their comments, the police have managed to collect screen shots of many of them.

According to the police, some of the persons under investigation are currently located in West Asia and there is no personal information available on them other than their profile details.
