The government will bring in an industrial promotion Act to solve the problems being faced on the industrial licensing front, Minister for Industries A.C. Moideen has said.

Speaking after inaugurating a new complex at the Industrial Park at Varavoor on Monday, he said all the ministers had agreed on the need for such an Act and it would be enacted soon.

“Industrial projects should not get delayed due to technical reasons. Unnecessary hurdles in waste management and environment issues should be avoided. The government is bringing the Act to solve these problems,” the Minister said.

The government was planning to acquire 5,000 acres of land for industrial development in the State. The government was ready to extend support if any private parties were ready to establish private industrial parks, he said.

The Industries Department would promote private-public partnership model industrial parks on land earmarked by local bodies, the Minister said.

“We need to use natural resources for development. But at the same time, we have to conserve our resources for future generations. The government is encouraging reuse of waste water after treatment for industrial purpose,” he said.

The government’s attempt was to bring in ₹50,000 crore investment through various projects, he added. U.R. Pradeep, MLA, presided over the function.
