After her school days when she was first in the line for the school assembly, this is probably the first time 120-cm tall Dhanya came up first anywhere. She was adjudged the shortest woman in all the CDSs of Kudumbashree in Kozhikode Corporation on Sunday.

The unique competition for the shortest, tallest, heaviest and lightest women in the city was organised by the Kozhikode Corporation Kudumbashree’s Unity Group as part of a promotional drive for the Kudumbashree’s Mahila Mall in Kozhikode.

The competition that was held over a span of two weeks, starting from February 6 had most women in the city under the Kudumbashree fold taking part in it.

Preliminary round for each CDS was held on separate days and the finals were held on Sunday.

All fun

“The competition is fun as there is nothing any of us can do about what qualifies us as winners,” said Reena, a member of the Central CDS and a participant. Latha M.K., who is 130-cm tall, is next to Dhanya in the run for the shortest woman title.

Mini who is 177 cm came up as the tallest woman in the city while Krishna Kumar at 175 cm came second.

The contenders for the heaviest woman title were many. Sudha N.K. defeated all to claim the title with a weight of 111 kg while Najuma at 104.5 kg came second.

The lightest woman is Sheeja T.K. who weighs 30.3 kg while Ramadevi who weighs 33 kg came second.

Gold medal

The four winners will receive the Mahila Mall gold medal that will be given away at an event to be held on March 8, the International Women’s Day.

Meanwhile, several other competitions such as banana eating competition and rusk eating competition were also held for women, even those outside the Kudumbashree fold, as part of the month-long flower show and food festival that is going on at the mall since February 6.

Mahila Mall is the first mall in Asia with an all-woman crew running it.
