Free uniform for aided schools too

Minister says 50 lakh metres of fabric needed for it

Industries Minister A.C. Moideen has said that the free handloom uniform scheme being implemented in government schools will be extended to aided schools also. Inaugurating a handloom workshop held at the Indian Institute of Handloom Technology (IIHT) here on Sunday, the Minister said the scheme would be extended to students up to Class VII.

An additional 50 lakh metres of fabric was required if the scheme was to be extended to aided schools, he said. If the additionally required fabric could be woven this year itself, the scheme would be implemented in the aided schools from the next academic year.
