A real estate company has approached the city Corporation promising to set up foot overbridges at East Fort, near Cotton Hill school, and St. Marys Higher Secondary School, Pattom, free of cost.

A meeting presided over by Mayor V. K. Prashant here on Thursday asked the company, Sun Infra, to prepare the Detailed Project Report to set up the FOBs.

Light Metro

The Mayor said the FOB’s would be set up without affecting the proposed Light Metro and the heritage of the capital.

The representatives of the company presented the plan at a meeting attended by R. Satheesh Kumar and Shafeera Begum, chairpersons of the Town Planning and Public Works standing committees; Corporation Secretary L.S. Deepa; and officials of Kerala State Electricity Board, Town Planning, PWD, and Kerala Road Fund Board.

The earlier attempts by the traffic police and district administration to set up the FOBs through sponsorships at these three places and other busy junctions in the capital for the movement of pedestrians had not materialised.
