The Kerala Film Chamber of Commerce has decided to reschedule the release of 11 movies in the aftermath of the devastating floods that hit the State.
A meeting of various bodies affiliated to the chamber held here on Thursday decided that all these movies will be screened for at least a week irrespective of the box-office collections.
G. P. Vijayakumar, president of the chamber, said that only Laughing Apartment at Girinagar will be released on Friday. All the release centres will screen the movie for two weeks. Cinema halls alone suffered a loss close to ₹30 crore owing to the floods, he said.
Theevandi and Ranam will be released on September 7 while Padayottam and Kuttanadan Blog will hit cinemas on September 14. Other release dates include Varuthan , Mangalyam Thanthunane , and Johny Johny Yes Papa (September 20) and Chalakudikkaran Changathi and Lilly (September 27).
The release dates of big budget movies like Odiyan , Kayamkulam Kochunni and Drama have not been finalised. The producers and distributors of these movies will take an appropriate decision on the release schedule.
