Roads in Wayanad to be repaired

Minister for Ports Kadannappally Ramachandran said here on Tuesday that the State government would provide a fair compensation to the victims of rain-related calamities in the district.

Speaking after attending a review meeting on rain-related calamities in the district, Mr. Ramachandran said the compensation for people who had lost their houses would be provided soon.

Steps would be taken to repair the major roads in the district and the Thamarassery ghat section of roads soon, the Minister said.

Crop loss

Crop loss in the calamities would be brought to the attention of the Cabinet at its meeting on Wednesday, Mr.Ramachandran pointed out.

According to available data with the district administration, the estimated loss in rain-related calamities in the district stood at ₹16.75 crore.
