The District Disaster Management Authority here has conducted a safety audit at various Makaravilakku view points in the district on Sunday ahead of the Sabarimala Ayyappa temple Makaravilakku festival on January 14.
The official team headed by the Deputy Collector (Disaster Management), S. Sivaprasad, was comprised experts attached to the departments of Fire and Rescue, Police, Forest, Health, Revenue, and Water Resources.
The team visited the view points at Ayyanmala, Nellimala, Panjippara, Attathode, Elavumkal, Chittar, and Angamoozhy.
Special team
Mr. Sivaprasad said special task team of Fire and Rescue Force personnel would be deployed at all view points. Healthcare team, with ambulance facility, would also be posted at these places to reach emergency health care to the needy in the event of an emergency situation.
He said Aska lamps would be provided at these view points, besides drinking water supply on the Makaravilakku day. The Disaster Management Authority would also seek help from the Ayyappa Seva Sanghom volunteers, if needed.
The Collector, P.B. Noohu, said experienced officials would be posted at these places well before the Makaravilakku festival.
