The Kannur district panchayat has decided to initiate action against contractors who fail to complete works in time, as delay in completing many road works has drawn public protest.
The decision to act against the erring contractors was taken at the district panchayat meeting held here on October 3.
The action being planned includes blacklisting of the contractors who have failed to complete the contract work.
A press release informing this said that the panchayat meeting has also decided to convene a meeting of the contractors in a week.
The decision followed the complaints of district panchayat members that they were facing people’s protest as contractors who had received the contract were yet to start many road works in the district.
