Engineers of the Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) on Monday inspected the two generators, generator six and four, which were affected following a blast at its circuit breaker of the switch yard connecting to the power line at the Mollamattom Power House on Sunday evening.

Siby Jose, deputy chief engineer (power generation) told The Hindu that the two generators were switched off immediately after the blast. It had affected power supply in the State on Sunday night and the inspection will be over by evening, he said.

Mr. Jose said that the blast was not due to overload or short circuit following increased power generation after the water level in the Idukki dam reached near to the brim.

Mr. Jose termed the incident as normal and said that the priority is to restore the supply level.
