Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) State president T.V. Rajesh, MLA, has asked the government to conduct a social auditing of its implementation of projects promised over the past four years.
‘‘The Oommen Chandy government is now surviving on attractive captions, even though the State is facing administrative paralysis,’’ Mr. Rajesh said at a press conference here on Sunday. Though the government had announced various projects, they still remained in paper, he said adding that a social auditing would expose the truth.
Stating that the DYFI would strengthen its agitation against corruption in the government, Mr. Rajesh said that all sectors of the government, including the education sector, were mired in corruption. The bar bribery scandal was the latest of the exposures that left two Ministers under the shadow of corruption charges, he said alleging that the Chief Minister and Home Minister were in their public statements absolving Finance Minister K.M. Mani and Excise Minister K. Babu, thereby giving discreet direction to the investigating agency probing bribery charges against them.
He said that while the UDF government had surrendered before Mr. Mani, the BJP abandoned its stir against the Finance Minister. If the BJP was serious about fighting corruption, the party’s State leadership should urge the Centre to remove Mr. Mani from the post of the chairman of the Empowered Committee of State Finance Ministers on Goods and Services Tax, a post bestowed on him by the Modi government, he said
