Dr. N.A. Kareem no more

Dr. N. A. Kareem, noted educationist and former Pro-Vice Chancellor of the University of Kerala died at his residence here a short while ago due to age related illness. He was 90.

Dr. Kareem, a strong presence in the forefront of struggles for education and a campaigner for human rights, has been serving as president of the Vakkom Moulavi Foundation. An alumnus of Aligarh Muslim University, Dr. Kareem had taught in several colleges in Kerala.

A progressive Muslim all his life, Dr. Kareem had also contested unsuccessfully as the joint Left Democratic Front (LDF) candidate in the Thirurangadi Assembly by-election against A.K. Antony.
