The District Collector has asked government departments to upload details of officials to be deployed for electoral duties. The details are to be uploaded on the website edrop.gov.in.
The official software solution, e-DROP, is an acronym for electronically deploying randomly officers for poll duty. The project provides a web-based solution to all matters related to posting of officials for election duty. The system randomly mixes all data and assigns the officials for polling duty against each polling station. Nearly three lakh employees were posted for election to local self-governments in 2010 using the system.
The facility for submission of nomination papers is in place. Nominations can be filed till October 14. Scrutiny of nomination papers will take place on October 15. The last date for withdrawal of nominations will be October 17.
A cell has been constituted to monitor the model code of conduct for the local body elections in the district. District law officer S.A. Sajeev, Senior Superintendent J. Srilatha, and Superintendent Santosh Kumar are members of the cell. The election authority will monitor election expenses of candidates. The maximum poll expenses per candidate have been fixed at Rs.10,000 in grama panchayat, Rs.30,000 in block panchayat, Rs.60,000 in district panchayat, Rs.30,000 in municipality and Rs.60,000 in municipal corporations.
