Deploy Central forces in Kannur: Sudhakaran

Says local police will not be able to maintain law and order in Kannur

October 17, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:46 am IST - KANNUR:

Congress leader and former MP K. Sudhakaran has demanded that Central forces be deployed in the district to ensure free and fair local body election in the district. The local police would not be able to handle the law and order situation during the polls, he said.

At a press conference here on Friday, he said the Communist Party of India (Marxist) was unleashing a campaign of terror in many places, including Anthur municipality, where the United Democratic Front (UDF) ‘was not allowed to submit their nominations.’

He alleged that those who proposed the names of some candidates were forced to withdraw their support in the nominations leading to rejection of the candidature.
